snack focused internet dorkery

So a loyal reader of SnackManiac just tipped me off to another snack related internet venture that is worthy of your attention.

When I heard that there was a site called Snacksby, I assumed he was just spinning a yarn, being the Midwestern raconteur that he is.

But no! It is real! This informative and hilarious site allows you to enter all of the things you have in your fridge and pantry and provides you with recipes for snacks that you can make. Not that I am doubting the quality of its wizardry, but I just entered "wheat thins, easter M&Ms and Miller Lite" and it told me there were no matching recipes. Come on. At the very least you could make trail mix.

Despite Snacksby's lack of creativity, they were apparently just acquired by Revolution.

[STEVE CASE, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BUY SNACKMANIAC, I'M UP TO 31 UNIQUES.]

ditto on the "tell us what's in your pantry" feature. totally expected there to be like a genius wizard at the other end telling me how to turn oreos, some turkey and a bunch of dressing into magical cake. instead it's like "rock candy." no thanks.

I'm glad that snacksby didn't get "gobbled up by the corporate machine" that is revolution (the phoenix from the ashes of aol time warner merger), and "will still be charming as ever."

it's tagline at the top of the browser window is "Snacksby is a really neat recipe site. For serious!" which doesn't make me hate it with the fire of a thousand suns. nope, not at all. for serious!

steve's probably thinking:
aol = web 1.0
snacksby = web 2.0

that's why snackmaniac needs to CHANGE THE PARADIGM and begin WEB 3.0
